Okay, so if you read the notes on the back of my book, I was explaining how my love for writing was somewhat accidental, but didn’t go into great detail. I also stated that I would provide more detail on my website, so here goes.
Well, I use to be involved on a drama team ministry, preforming short uplifting skits at different events and venues. Needless to say, the drama team has been discontinued for some time now. Anyway, one day, when the drama team was still up and running, a member and I were talking on the phone about some different ideas to put on the back of the monthly newsletter, to fill in some empty space.
So we came up with the idea of writing a short story, and put only one segment on the back of the newsletter, leaving a cliff hanger at the end, so the newsletter recipient would get the next segment on the next month. Any-hoo, I volunteered to write the story, and began writing soon after the other member and I hung up.
About a half hour later, I finished the first segment and called the other member back. I read it over the phone, and it seemed to go over very well. So we decided to use that and hung up once again. After re-reading the first page to myself once more…well something happened to me during that time, I didn’t want to stop, it was almost as if I were seeing a movie in my mind, and I wanted to somehow put it in words. About two or so hours later, I was surprised when I finished the first chapter; I was excited, I’ve never done anything like this before, and the transfer from the movie in my mind into words seemed to come quite easy to me.
I called the member back and told them that I thought I was on to something; instead of putting it in the newsletter, I wanted to continue writing and see where this would end up. Needless to say, it wasn’t used for the newsletter on my request, but my first book was eventually completed about seven or eight months later.
Seeing how this was for a ministry, I chose to write about spiritual warfare, the book has unique characters and outlandish situations, its fiction and kinda on the si-fi side of the spectrum. I’ve taken it off the market for now to work on it…trust me, it was my first attempt at writing, and let’s just say, it needs a huge amount of work, editing and reconstruction. I do plan to work on it and republish it sometime in the future, but as of right now I don’t have any specific date or deadline. Maybe if there’s enough requests to read it, I’ll take the time, get it done and put it out there. Well that’s my story and that’s how my love for writing came about.
Have a great day!
